Early on in this thriller, the captain of an aircraft dismisses a potential terrorist threat by telling Liam Neeson's concerned air marshal to simply "sit back, relax and enjoy the flight." The line is a groaner -- not just because the impending doom is obvious to anyone with a single brain cell, but Neeson doesn't do Zen.

Indeed, the strapping Irish thespian has made an impressive second career out of playing the intellectual action hero. Mess with him, and start planning your own funeral. (This applies to animals too. See: The Grey). Yet, the original Taken aside, Neeson has yet to find the ideal vehicle to match his very specific set of acting skills. And with Non-Stop, he must once again carry a generic outing on his weary shoulders.

Neighbors watched in horror as a 10-year-old southwest Missouri girl was snatched off the street just blocks from her home.
Some had spotted a man in a gold Ford Ranger pickup truck driving down the road in Springfield several times before the driver took off with the girl, investigators said. The residents even called 911 to report the truck's license number.
But the vehicle moved too quickly. And Hailey Owens was gone.
Now prosecutors have charged Craig Michael Wood with first-degree murder, kidnapping and armed criminal action. In filing the charges Wednesday, they alleged that the 45-year-old middle school football coach and teacher's aide abducted Hailey as she walked home from a friend's house Tuesday.
A probable cause statement said the fourth-grader's body was found stuffed in two trash bags inside plastic storage containers in the basement of Wood's Springfield home. She had been shot in the head, according to Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Patterson.
The basement floor was still damp from bleach, according to the probable cause statement.
Authorities won't officially confirm that the body is Hailey's until after an autopsy, but Springfield Police Paul Williams said "we have a high degree of confidence" in the preliminary identification, which indicates that it is the girl.
According to the probable cause statement, resident Michelle Edwards told police she and her husband were in their garage when saw a pickup truck approach the girl, who was holding a cellphone. She said the driver asked the girl for directions before he grabbed her with one hand and threw her into the truck "like a rag doll."
Another resident, Ricky Riggins, told the Springfield News-Leader that he chased the fleeing pickup in his car after a neighbor tried to pull the girl away.
"I couldn't keep up," Riggins said. "He was probably five to six cars ahead of me. ... It was so fast."
Wood was inside a truck parked outside his home when police arrested him Tuesday night. The probable cause statement said he was holding a roll of duct tape when officers arrived.
The truck is registered to Wood's father, Jim Wood, who told police he loaned the vehicle to his son. The father, who lives in nearby Ash Grove, declined an interview request from The Associated Press.
Wood and the girl apparently didn't know each other. Hailey attended Westport Elementary School; Wood worked at Pleasant View School.
"There's no connection that we've been able to determine at this time between the victim and the suspect," Williams said.
Springfield school officials said Wood is a seventh-grade football coach and teacher's aide who supervises in-school suspensions at Pleasant View, which has students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Norm Ridder, the Springfield district's superintendent, said in a statement Wednesday that Wood began working for the district in August 1998. He said Wood has been suspended since his arrest.
Wood was initially hired as a temporary employee who worked as a substitute teacher before he was hired full time in 2006, school district spokeswoman Teresa Bledsoe said later Wednesday. He has coached football at Pleasant View since 1998 and was also an assistant boys' basketball coach.

When Macklemore & Ryan Lewis swept the rap categories at the Grammys last month, it sparked a controversy among rap fans that the Seattle duos pop-oriented brand of rap bested albums from Drake, Kanye West, Jay Z and frontrunner Kendrick Lamar.
After racking up a bounty of wins, including best new artist, Macklemore sent a text message to Lamar and later posted a screen shot of the message to his nearly 3 million Instagram followers.
In the text Macklemore apologized to Lamar.
"You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have," Macklemore wrote, adding that Lamar "deserved best rap album." He offered no apologies for beating him in the new artist, rap performance and song races.
Reaction to the move was mixed.

Many praised Macklemore for showing love to Lamar and acknowledging one of the night's biggest upsets, but others questioned his motives for making the private messages public.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Drake calls Macklemore out over the apology, bluntly calling it wack as " [insert profanity] and cheap.
"I was like, 'You won. Why are you posting your text message? Just chill. Take your W, and if you feel you didn't deserve it, go get better make better music,' " Drake told the magazine. "It felt cheap. It didn't feel genuine."
"Why do that? Why feel guilt?" Drake continued. "You think those guys would pay homage to you if they won?"

Drake added that Macklemore "made a brand of music that appealed to more people than me, Hov, Kanye and Kendrick but wanted him to own up to it.

While Sonic Boom and its revamped characters are being designed byBig Red Button and Sanzaru for Wii U and 3DS respectively, veteran Sonic Team memberTakashi Iizuka confirmed toPolygonthat there were other titles in development.
It's been confirmed that the redesigned characters of Boom are not going to replace the classic images of the characters but will rather exist in parallel, and that the scarves on the characters are because veteran Naughty Dog developers are involved in the project.
Could the upcoming Sonic Team Japan project be the one rumoured for PS4, Xbox One and Wii U? Time will tell.
Original Story:SEGA has announced Sonic Boom, a fresh branch of the Sonic universe that includes a video game, toys and a new CG animated television series.
Sonic Boom will introduce redesigned versions of the popular hedgehog and his companions. To get your first glimpse at their new looks, check out the debut trailer for the Sonic Boom video game below, coming exclusively to Wii U and 3DS.
Starring Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose, the Sonic Boom game will serve as a prequel to the TV series and will focus on collaborative gameplay. The third title in the exclusive Nintendo-Sega partnershipfollowing Sonic: Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, it'll feature all the speed you'd expect from a Sonic game, alongside elements of exploration, combat and "a new Enerbeam tether mechanic".
The TV series will debut on Cartoon Network during the 2014/2015 season and will be made up of 52 episodes, each 11 minutes long. As you'd expect, a range of accompanying toys and merchandise will be produced featuring the new-look characters.
Hiroyuki Miyazaki, SEGA chief content officer for Sonic, said "SEGA is constantly looking to feed the appetite of Sonic fans, new and existing alike. The various pieces of the Sonic Boom project, such as its unique look, mix of comedy, and action and its focus on the whole ensemble with Sonic as the star, offer another exciting part of that universe for people to explore and enjoy. It will be at once familiar but also new."
Earlier this week there were mutterings about a next-gen Sonic game headed to Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One in 2015, though SEGA was quick to deny the claims. We now know where our next Sonic fix is coming from... the question is, when?
